Shrub; branches glabrescent. Leaves ± superposed, tomentose beneath, black-dotted. Inflorescence axillary cyme. Flowers slightly zygomorphic, 6-merous, brick-red, bracteoles lacking. Hypanthium tubular, curved. Epicalyx short, thick. Petals linear-subulate, acuminate. Stamens 12, curved, inserted below the middle of the hypanthium, exserted or included, all of unequal length. Ovary oblong, bilocular; stigma bilobed. Capsule ovate-elliptic, included within the hypanthium, 2-valved. Seeds oblong-truncate or obovate-cuneate.
2 species in tropical Africa and Asia. One species grows in Pakistan.
