Annual herb. Root slender, fibrous. Stems 1.8-5 cm high, erect, glabrous, branched. Leaves alternate, sessile, oblong, oblanceolate, obtuse, entire, truncate at the base, 3-6 x 1-1.5 mm. Cymes, 1-3-flowered, terminal. Flowers pentamerous, glabrous, pedicel 1-2 mm. Sepals 2-4 x 0.5-1.5 mm, oblong, acute, glabrous. Petals free, 3-5 x 1-1.5 mm, oblong, acuminate, glabrous, white. Stamens 5, in one whorl, 2-4 mm long. Nectar scales oblong, 0.8-1 x 0.15-0.2 mm. Carpels 5, connate at the base, 2-3 x 0.5-1 mm, style short, stigma capitate. Follicles 5, 3-4 x 1-1.5 mm. Seeds 3-10 per fruit, small, brown, ellipsoid, 0.5-1 x 0.2-0.3 mm.

Syntypes: Sikkim: Chhortensiwa La, 5333 m., 9 aout 1909, Smith & Cave 2350 (LE); Naker–Chu, Llonk, 5666 m, 3 aout 1909, Smith & Cave 1940 (LE).

A plant of high altitude, grows between 4500-5000 m along streams; Distribution: Kashmir, N.W.India, Sikkim, Bhutan, China (Xizang, Qinghai).
