Malvaviscus penduliflorus Mocino & Sesse ex DC.
Vine like shrubs, hairy or glabrous. Leaves 5-20 cm long, 3-12 cm broad, elliptic to ovate or lanceolate, usually rounded at base, long acuminate at apex, serrate to crenate, not or 2-angular, pubescent on both sides, glabrescent; stipules 3-5 mm long, linear; petiole 1-10 cm long. Flower axillary, solitary; pedicel 2-6 cm long. Epicalyx segments 6 or more, 1-1.5 cm long, 1.5-3 mm broad, oblong somewhat spathulate, Calyx slightly longer than epicalyx, fused to the middle above, lobes lanceolate. Corolla 5-7 cm long, red. Distribution: Common in Mexico and extending to Ecuador and Venezuela. Cultivated in various parts of the world. It is commonly cultivated in Pakistan.
