    Erect shrub, bark brownish gray, glabrous, branches densely leafy. Leaves simple, alternate, sessile, elliptic to elliptic-oblong, impregnated with salt glands, 3-6 (-8.5) mm long, 1-2 mm broad, subacute with scales at the base of racemes and branches. Scales brownish, broad, ovate, sub-rhomboid, 2-6 mm long 1.5-5 mm broad. Racemes lateral, very rarely terminal 4-10 (-15) cm long. 1-1.3 cm broad, lower portion of the raceme somewhat lax, upper compact, pedicel as long as or. slightly shorter than calyx. Bracts ovate-oblong or ovate elliptical (rarely rhombicus) 4.5-1 cm long, entire, membranous, obtuse. Sepals united at base, 1.25-5 mm long, elliptic oblong, subobtuse, membranous. Petals pink, 5-7 mm long, 2-2.5 mm broad, oblong to elliptic-oblong, obovate, obtuse. Stamens united two third of their length, somewhat dilated in free part, long stamens 4 mm long, short 3 mm long, anthers obtuse. Carpel 6-8 mm long, ovary pyramidal with sessile, capitate stigma. Capsule elongated, pyramidal dehiscing by 5 longitudinal valves, 0.7-1 cm long, 3 mm broad.

    Holotype: Habitate Orientalis ? Desvaux (P).

    Distribution: Russia (Central Asia, Soongaria, Kashgaria, Pamir Alai). India (Himalayas and Tibet) and Pakistan (Chitral, Gilgit, Yarkhun, Kagan, Swat etc).
