Perilla fruticosa (Roxb. ex D. Don)
Shrub or bushy herb, 1-2 m. Stems much branched, tomentose with eglandular tangled hairs. Leaves oblong-elliptic, 5-14 x 2.5-4 cm, ± regularly serrate-crenate, narrowed into a very short or subabsent petiole, acute, eglandular pubescent and with numerous reddish oil globules on both surfaces. Inflorescence of lateral and terminal slender spikes, c. 7-12 x 0.5-0.8 cm, forming panicles; indumentum ± dense tomentose with at least some branched eglandular hairs. Bracts linear-elliptic, c. 3 mm. Calyx narrow tubular, c. 3 mm; teeth narrow triangular, acute, erect. Corolla creamy white or greenish, c. 4 mm, tomentose. Stamens ± exserted. Stylar arms ± equal, c. 0.4 mm. Nutlets pale brown, oblong, c. 1.2 x 0.4 mm, smooth.
