Setaria italica (Linn.) P. Beauv., Ess. Agrost. 51, 170, 178. 1812. (Panicum italicum Linn., Sp. Pl. 1:56. 1753),Italian Foxtail Millet, is cultivated as a crop in China and parts of India. and for fodder or bird-seed in Europe. and elsewhere. It is occasionally grown in parts of Africa. In Pakistan it is cultivated in both the plains and the hills, but more commonly from 1500 to 3600 m. There is a key to its variants by F.T. Hubbard in Amer. J. Bot. 2:187. 1915.
