POACEAE Tribe THYSANOLAENEAE
Broad-leaved perennials. Inflorescence a panicle. Spikelets bisexual, 2(-3)-flowered, longer than the glumes, tardily breaking up above the glumes and between the florets; lodicules 2, cuneate; stamens 2 or 3; stigmas 2. Grain with large embryo and basal hilum. Chromosomes small, basic number 12.
An isolated tribe with dimorphic lemmas, reminiscent of Paniceae, but with pooid leaf anatomy.
Monotypic in Southeast Asia.
