Cushion-forming, densely tufted perennial. Stem very short, woody, densely leafy, glabrous. Leaves fasciculate, 5-10 mm, the lower leaves brown and withered, subulate, acute, base with a broad scarious margin, minutely ciliate. Flowers solitary, shortly pedicellate. Sepals 6-6.5 mm, lanceolate, glabrous, acute, 3-nerved; nerves greenish with scarious margins. Petals white, longer than the sepals, obovate. Styles 3. Capsule included in the calyx.

Distribution: W. Tibet, Karakorums, Ladak, Sikkim.
A plant of high altitudes. The only specimen seen is from Ladakh, Rupshu from an alt. of 5029-5332 m. Reported from Mt. Everest at 6216 m. (Stewart, l.c.).
