Caespitose perennial, 5-10 cm, with a branched woody stock. densely leafy; flowering stems erect, pilose, ± glandular, with 1-2 pairs Leaves 6-15 mm, fasciculate, ± tinged, recurved; apex indurate, subulate, acute, base with ciliate scarious margin. Flowers terminal, solitary. Pecked as sepal, pilose. Sepals 7-9 mm, lanceolate, glabrous, apex somewhat spiny; 3-nerved, margin scarious. Petal longer than the sepals, linear-oblong. Capsule smaller than the sepals, dehiscing by 6 teeth. Seeds flat, subreniform, with long white papillae at the back.
