Caespitose perennial. Stem ± erect, 3-5 mm; leaves 5-10 x 0.5-1 mm, narrowly linear, acute, almost spiny, convex and keeled below, sessile with short cilia at the base. Flower; 1-3. Pedicel 3-8 mm long, minutely pubescent. Sepals 2.5-3 mm long, slightly convex, 3-veined, with ± glandular hairs. Petals oblong, as long as the sepals. Capsule longer than the calyx, membranous.
Fl. Per.: July-August.
Type: Described from Lapland Islands, Hb. Linn (LINN).
Distribution: Arctic Europe, Altai, Kamachatka, N. Mongolia, N. Pakistan.
Common in the alpine zone from 3350-5000 m.
