Perennial stemless herb. Leaves with up to 15 cm long petiole; blade thickly coriaceous, orbicular or broadly ovate, cordate, entire, obtuse, prominently nerved, 15-30 cm long and broad. Inflorescence pedunculate, c. 60 cm long, pubescent racemes. Flowers 2-3 mm across, pedicellate, bracteate. Fruit ellipsoid or oblong.

Excluded species.

This species has been frequently reported from Western Himalayas. We have not come across any specimen of this species. It appears that its actual distribution is in Central Himalayas i.e. from Kumaon to Nepal. Rechinger and Schiman-Czeika (l.c.), however, placed the present species under the synonymy of R.spiciforme Royle.
