    Annual, erect, stem quadrangular-subcircular, widely divaricately branched from the base or simple, generally 15–40 cm long, slender, 1-1.5 mm thick, shortly retrorsely scabrid at angles. Leaves 6 in a whorl, sessile, linear, scabridulous and aristate, margin revolute, midrib scabrid, lateral nerves obscure, 5–10 x 1–1.5 mm, broader near the middle. Inflorescence axillary, laxly di or trichotomously branched peduncle long filifonn, glabrous, 2–3-flowered; pedicel capillary, 4-6 mm long. Corolla white, minute, segments c. 1 mm long, cuspidate. Fruits c. 1 mm across, glabrous, mericarps mostly free.

    Fl. Per.: July-August.

    Type: ‘Habitat in Tauriae et Caucasi etiam Iberiae incultis et rupestris.’ (LE).

    Distribution: W. Asia from Syria and Caucasus to Greece, Kashmir and Pakistan.
