Distribution: Afghanistan, Pakistan eastward to Nepal, Burma, Malaya.
The subspecies can be distinguished from the type sub-species mainly by the fruits being not depressed and faintly 4-lobed. The indumentum is also not as dense, giving the leaves a greenish-white tinge. The geographical distribution of the ssp. Brevifolium, as pointed out by Kazmi l.c. 154) is more north westerly. It also has a later flowering period.
