Similar to the above species but differing in the subacuminate leaves, many-flowered panicles and the glabrous calyx.
Type: Described from South U.S.A.
Distribution: A native of the Southern U.S.A. Cultivated elsewhere.
Reportedly cultivated in Lahore (Parker, l.c.). The bark is anthelmintic and the capsule and the seeds have sedative and antispasmodic properties.
