E. NASIR

  • Campanula caperonioides Klotzsch
  • Campanula stricta Wall.

Annual, up to 25 cm tall; branches few, pilose, thin, 0.5-1.5 mm in diameter. Radical and cauline leaves linear, 1-5 cm x 1-2 mm, pilose, sessile. Inflorescence lax, 2-5-flowered. Pedicel c. 1 cm long, pubescent. Calyx segments linear-lanceolate, 2-5 mm long, calyx teeth about half the size of the calyx, pilose. Corolla campanulate, c. 1 cm long, lobes c. 1/3 the length of the corolla. Style included in the corolla. Capsule not seen.

    Type: Nepal, Wallich 1293.1 (K-Wall.; isotypes E, W).

    Distribution: Nepal, Kumaon and Bhutan.

I have not seen any specimens of this species from Pakistan but Rechinger & Schimann-Czeika in Flora Iranica have cited Harsukh, 20579 from Singarah, Baluchistan. The type of Campanula sylvatica is from Nepal and the species also grows in Kumaon and Bhutan. It is not likely that this species grows in Baluchistan. Harsukh’s specimen may belong to the next taxon.
