Flacourtia jangomas (Lour.) Raeuschel, Nomencl. Bot. ed. 3,280. 1797.

  • Stigmarota jangomas Lour.

    Trees small, dioecious. Trunk spiny. Branches unarmed. Stem white-dotted. Leaves oval, glabrous, acuminate; margins serrate. Flowers small in irregular racemes. Fruit globose, c. 1 cm. long, succulent, dark purple.

    Distribution: Sub himalayan foot hill zone in India extending to South East Asia, China.

    According to Parker this species is cultivated in Lahore. It has not been reported from any other part of West Pakistan. The wood is hard and is used for making agricultural implements.
