Galium ciliatum D. Don
Decumbent annual herb, younger branches and stem pilose, older ± glabrous. Leaves 4-6 in a whorl, 5-10 x 2-3 mm, sessile, linear-narrowly lanceolate or oblanceolate, obtuse or acute-acuminate, upper surface glabrous, lower surface covered with long weak hairs, midrib prominent, nerves obscure, margins ± recurved. Inflorescence axillary, terminal, usually longer than the leaves, paniculate, branches divaricate, slender. Flowers minute, pedicel slender. Corolla segments ovate, obtuse, ciliate. Fruit c. 2 mm long, globose-subglobose, covered with hooked hairs.
Fl. Per.: August-October.
Syntypes: Flab. ad Narsinhetty, Hamilton, Wallich.
Distribution: Temperate Himalayas, Pakistan, Kashmir to Nepal.
This Sino-Japanese element is rather rare in our area; grows in the rock crevices, 1000-2500 m.
