Erect, sparingly branched annual, 15-30 cm. Stem ± glabrous. Leaves opposite, 5-8 cm x 1.5-4 mm, linear, obtuse or acute-acuminate, glabrous. Stipules truncate, ending in one or two subulate appendages. Inflorescence a terminal elongated cyme, branched above; spreading in flower and ± erect in fruit. Pedicels slender. Calyx c. 3 mm long, lobes triangular-subulate, c. 1.5 mm long. Corolla dull brown; tube slender, 10-12 mm long; lobes linear-oblong, obtuse, c. 5 mm long. Capsule obovoid, or ellipsoid, glabrous, 4-6 mm long.
Fl. Per.: ‘The Hot season’ (Wallich l.c.).
Type: Described from Nepal.
Distribution: India, Pakistan (Baluchistan, Punjab and Hazara), Sikkim, Burma and Bengal.
