Ephedra foliata var. ciliata StapfEphedra foltata Boiss
Scandent or trailing plant. Branches slender. Leaves 2‑4 at the upper nodes, 0.8‑3.0 x 0.1 cm, linear. Male strobili solitary or 2‑3 per node; flowers 4‑6 pairs, bracteate; bracts connate, obtuse; anthers 3‑4, sessile. Female strobili pedunculate, ovoid, 2‑3‑flowered. Tubillus c. 1.5 mm long, straight. Berry globose, white. Seeds 2, brownish‑black.
Type: Described from Gilan, Persia.
Fairly common throughout from 700‑2300 m and of no importance economically. Fl. Per.: February‑March; Distribution: C. Asia, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
