Loosely grey-tomentose annuals up to 20 cm high. Stem erect, ± dichotomously branched from near the base or in the upper part. Leaves linear-lanceolate to narrowly spathulate, with a very short cartilaginous tip, the upper slightly surpassing the glomerules. Glomerules 8-12 mm in diameter of 6-10 capitula. Involucre c. 4mm long; phyllaries c. 15, linear-lanceolate, the outer and median indistinctly plicate, acute or gradually tapering into a mucro, the median at least partly including a filiform female florets, their median vein (as in the inner ones) on the outside thickened at base, laxly tomentose at the back, apex glabrous, the inner obtuse and sparsely tomentose or glabrous. In the centre 2-3 bisexual and numerous female florets. Cypselas c. 0.8 mm in the inner florets, pappus 2.5-3 mm long.

Type: Gulmarg, Kashmir, R.R.Stewart 8814 (G!).

Distribution: E Iran, Afghanistan, Turkestan, Pakistan and Kashmir.

A species not very well known. The habit is similar to F. pyramidata, but the structure of the involucre nearer to F. arvensis.
