Annuals with ± appressed greyish tomentum. Primary stem very short, branches procumbent, thus the whole plant usually appressed to the soil. Leaves linear, acute. Glomerules 10-20 mm in diameter, subglobose; phyllaries tomentose, the outer minute, the saccate median in two series from 2-2.5mm (outer series) to c. 4 mm long, the inner ones linear-lanceolate on the back with a protruding yellowish midrib in the basal part, inner phyllaries at fruiting-time divergent and falling off together. Bisexual florets usually 4, 1.3-1.5 mm long. Cypselas 1.2-1.5 mm long, glabrous, brownish, the corolla attached near the apex, with some very decidous 1.5 mm long pappus bristles.

An Irano-Turanian element, grows between 1200-1800 m as a weed; Distribution: Same as that of the genus.
