Differs from both the varieties by having broader leaves, which are witish tomentose on both surfaces and less branched stem.
Fl.Per.: July-September.
Syntypes: From Kunawar, 9-13000 ft, Jacquemont (K); Mana, Edgeworth (K!); Sikkim, alt. 13-15000 ft, J. D. Hooker (K!).
Grows between 3000-4000 m in boulders and meadows, slopes; Distribution: Kashmir to Sikkim through India (Himachal Pardesh and Uttar Pardesh).
Sometimes it is difficult to maintain these varieties as some of the intermediates are also found for instance Madan’s specimen from Badrinath is intermediate between var. concolor and var. cana. R. R. Stewart 5788 from Phalgam seems to be a mixure. In K it belongs to var. cana whereas in RAW it belongs to var. concolor.
