Low growing annual, up to 9 cm with very delicate, procumbent stems. glabrous or glandular above. Leaves 4-7 mm, linear-subulate, apex acute, base with a hyaline margin, connate, ± sparsely ciliate on the margins. Flowers solitary, 4-merous, white. Sepals 1.5 mm, ovate-oblong, obtuse, persistent. Petals small, caducous. Stamens 8. Capsule exceeding the sepals, dehiscing by 4 valves. Seed minute, deltoid, smooth to finely rugose, dorsally grooved.

Type: Described from Italy.
Distribution: Europe, W. Asia, N. America, Canary Islands.
Found in Punjab and Hazara region at low altitudes upto 1200 m.
