Erect, up to 50 cm tall, branched. One or more stems from the base. Lower leaves linear to lanceolate, c. 6 cm long, veins 7, apex acute to obtuse, mucronate; upper leaves gradually shorter, lanceolate to ovate, veins 19, base broad, amplexicaul. Peduncle c. 9 cm long. Involucral bracts 1 or 2 or lacking, linear to lanceolate, c. 8 mm long, veins 7-9. Rays 2-5. Involucel of 5-6 linear to lanceolate bractlets, up to 4 mm long, longer than the flowering umbellet, veins 3. Flowers dark purple to black. Fruit elliptic to oblong, 4 mm long; ridges prominent, not winged; furrows 3-vittate. Inner seed face slightly concave.
Type: Swat, Kalam, 7000 ft., R.R. Stewart 24630 (Holotype K; Isotype E).
Distribution: Swat in W. Pakistan.
