Bupleurum jucundum var. cachemirica C.B. Clarke
Perennial, up to 60 cm tall, 1 or more stems from the base. Lower leaves linear to lanceolate, veins 7-9, secondary veins distinct or obscure, apex mucro¬nate, base narrow; upper leaves gradually shorter, lanceolate to oblong, base narrow, amplexicaul, not cordate, veins 9-13. Involucral bracts lacking or sometimes 1, minute. Rays 5-10. Involucel of 5 linear bractlets, shorter than the flowering umbellet, veins acute. Fruit oblong, curved, 5-6 mm long; ridges pro¬minent, subalate; furrows 3-vittate.
Type: Swat, Kalam, R.R. Stewart 24629 (Holotype, RAW; Isotype, UC).
Distribution: Himalayas.
This species is near B. jucundum but the plants are more xerophytic, the upper leaves are not cordate and the involucral bracts are usually lacking.
