Densely tufted shrub. Leaves linear-triquetrous, acerose, slightly spreading, minutely scabrid-margined, glabrous. Scape simple, longer than the leaves. Spike compact, terminal. Spikelets 2-7,1-flowered, 3-bracteate; outer bract ovate-triangular, hyaline-margined, acute to mucronate; middle and inner bracts elliptic-oblong, scarious except for the nerves; nerves produced into arista. Calyx funnel-shaped; tube slender, hirsute; limb 5-lobed.

Distribution: Confined to W. Pakistan in Chitral, N. Baluchistan and Afghanistan.
