Acacia fistula Schw.
Differs from var. seyal in having many pairs of spines (ant galls) fused at the base, greatly swollen and often bilobed.
Types: The Sudan, Gedaref region, and on Mount Gule in the province of Sennar, Schweinfurth (B, Syn.).
Native of Tropical and subtropical Africa, tried successfully in D.I. Khan. It yields good quality gum and charcoal.
