Calliandra grandiflora (L’Her.) Benth.Inga anomala KunthMimosa grandiflora L’Her.
Tall, evergreen shrub. Leaves bipinnate, rachis covered with dense brown hairs. Pinnae 15 pairs or more; leaflets 30-60 pairs, densely crowded, c. 5 mm long, linear, oblong. Inflorescence terminal panicles of heads. Flowers scarlet. Stamens c. 5 cm long. Pods 7.5-10 cm long, 1.2-1.8 cm wide, densely villous with red hairs.
Fl. Per. May-October.
Distribution: Indigenous to Mexico and Guatemala; cultivated in Lahore.
