Saxifraga pseudo-pallida var. bellidifolia Engl. & Irmsch. in Engl. Pflanzr.Saxi.iv. 117.53. 1916. R. R. Stewart, Ann.Cat.Vasc.Pl.W.Pak. & Kashm.344.1972.

Plant erect, 6-10 cm. Basal leaves few, c. 1 cm long, ovate, entire to crenate, sparsely villous. Petiole 8-10 mm long. Cauline leaves 0-2, lanceolate, sessile. flowers 1 (-2-3), reddish, bracteate; bract 3-5 mm long, linear, entire, sometimes dentate. Pedicel 1-2 cm, villous. Sepals basally united, 4 mm long, ovate, sub-acute, glabrous. Petals as long as the sepals, spathulate. Capsule 8 x 5 mm, beaked at apex. Seeds striate, ridges tuberculate.

Type: Described from Kashmir.

Distribution: Alpine and subalpine Himalayas, Kashmir, at c. 4000 m.

Rare in Pakistan. Has also been collected from Hazara, Chapran (Inayat 25613, R.R. Stewart, l.c.).

The type variety pseudo-pallida has not been reported form our area.

Its distribution is from Gharwal to Sikkim and W. China. Var. bellidifolia can be distinguished from the type variety by the length of the petals which are twice the length of the sepals in var. pseudo-pallida while in var. bellidifolia the sepals and petals are of equal length.
