Culms up to 150 cm high; basal sheaths more or less coiled; ligule usually less than 1 mm long (rarely up to 2.5 mm).
Type: India, Lucknow.
Distribution: Pakistan (Sind, Baluchistan, Punjab, N.W.FP., Gilgit & Kashmir); India (mainly in the west) and Nepal.
Common scented grass occurs in wet grasslands.
