Distribution: China and Pakistan.

The present variety differs from the var. bidentatum by having acuminate, 1 cm long mericarps (including 2 mm long awn) and c. 2 mm long projection inwards. In the var. bidentatum mericarps are acute, 7-8 mm long (including 1 mm long awn) and with 1 mm long projection inwards.
