Leaves green; palea of central spikelet 0.7-0.9 times as long as palea of lateral spikelet; anthers of central spikelet 0.7-1.4 mm long; prolongation of rhachilla of lateral spikelets slender, green; central spikelet with a pedicel (0.7-) 0.9-1.8 mm long; lateral spikelets longer than the central.
Type locality: Greece.
Distribution: Pakistan (N.W.F.P. & Kashmir); Mediterranean region eastwards to Central Asia and China.
