Vern.: Ber, Indian jujube.

A medium size tree. Leaves elliptic oblong or sub-orbicular, 6-9 cm long with 1-1.5 cm long petiole. Fruit ovoid 2.5-3.5 cm long, often pointed at top, generally yellowish green in colour, fleshy and juicy.

Type: Described from India.
Distribution: Same as species.
Cultivated and self sown for its edible juicy fruits and for its hard reddish timber, used for agricultural purposes. The branches are also used for fencing the fields.
