A climbing glabrous shrub, tendril absent. Leaves broadly ovate or deltoid, cuneate, truncate or shallowly cordate, entire or obscurely 3-lobed, sharply and coarsely dentate, with acute triangular teeth, 3-7 nerved at base, glabrous, glaucescent beneath, petiole 2.5 4 cm long, stipule minute, reddish, triangular, c. 1 mm long; Inflorescence terminal or axillary, leaf-opposed, 2-3 times dichotomously branched, peduncle usually 2-4 cm long. Flower green, c. 1.5 x 1.5 mm, pedicel 1.5-2 mm long, enlarged and thickened in fruit. Calyx minute c. 1.5 mm across and c. 0.5 mm long. Petals 5, distinct, not cohering hooded at apex c. 2 mm long, more or less triangular. Disc c. 2 mm across and c. 0.7 mm longer than calyx lobe. Style thick, subulate, stigma obscure. Berry globose, black, c. 5 mm in diameter, with two rings, of persistant calyx and disc at the base, 2-3 seeded. Seeds beaked, rounded on the back face, wedged shaped with two shallow linear pits.
