“Plantae subglabrae vel adpresso-pubescentes. Bracteae ad 4 mm longae. Petala 12 mm longa, basi contracta, pubescentia”.
“Plants subglabrous to appressed pubescent. Largest bract 4.0 mm long. Petal 12 mm long, base narrow, pubescent”.
Fl. Per.: July-August.
Type: Ishkoman pass, 13-14,000, Aug. 1954, F. Schmid s.n. (Holo, RAW).
Distribution: Kashmir, Gilgit, Baltistan.
Named after its collector F. Schmid. The following are some of the observations regarding the variety.
(1) As in the type variety, occasionally plants with one sex (male) sup-pressed, tend to have smaller flowers as seen in F. Schmid’s collections (l.c.) from Gilgit area.
(2) Plants from Astor (Gilgit) have rather small stipules, from 1.8-4 mm long.
