Annual to perennial glabrous herb. Root stock woody, stern absent, leaves arising directly from rootstock. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, 0.5-2.5 x 0.4-1.2 cm obtuse; entire, petiole glabrous, 1.0-2.5 cm long, slightly winged; stipules ovate-lanceolate, acute, dentate, 3-5 x 1.0 mm, semiadnate; peduncle glabrous, 2.5-3.5 cm long; bracteoles 2, opposite, above the middle 1.5-2.0 x 0.5-1.0 mm, lanceolate, acute, entire. Flowers small, c. 1 cm long, purple. Sepals 5, 2-3 x 1.0-1.5 mm, lanceolate-ovate, acute, entire. Petals oblanceolate 4-5 x 1-2 mm, obtuse-mucronate, entire, base cuneate; lateral petal oblanceolate-obovate, obtuse, entire, 5-6 x 2-3 mm; spur small, 1-1.5 mm, obtusish. Ovary 1-2 x 1-2 mm, ovate, glabrous, style glabrous, 1-2 mm long, hooked at summit, stigma pointing downward.

Distribution: Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkestan, India, Nepal, Tibet and W. China.
