  • Heliotropium khyberianum Riedl

    A branched perennial with vinous to pubescent, greyish-white to yellow-brown hairs. Hairs dimorphic, without tubercied base; shorter one appressed with few scattered longer hairs up to 1 mm long. Leaves petiolate; petiole 5-25 mm long; lamina 15-52 x 8-36 mm, ovate to ovate-oblong, appressed hairy with yellowish-brown or greyish white hairs, nerves impressed above. Inflorescence up to 20 cm long, secund, helicoid. Calyx 4-5 mm long, lobes 4.5 mm long, linear, dense hairy on outside; hairs 1 mm long. Corolla tube 5-6 mm long, hairy both within and without; hairs on the inner surface in two zones-upper densely hairy and situated at base of lobes; lower zone of hairs less hairy and present just above the anthers; intermediate area subglabrous. Lobes 1-1.5 mm long, ovate-obtuse. Stamens attached c. 1.5 mm from base of corolla tube. Anthers 1.2 mm long, ovate, apiculate, subsessile. Stigma c. 0.8 mm long, c. concial, and lobed at the base. Style c. 0.5 mm long. Nutlets c. 1.5 mm long, apex acutish.

    Distribution: Pakistan and Afghanistan.

    As mentioned earlier closely related to Heliotropium baluchistanicum.
