  • Heliotropium fruticulosum var. persicum Burm. f.
  • Lithospermum persicum Gaud
  • Sericostoma persicum (Burm. f.) B. L. Burtt

Branched shrub up to 20 cm tall with thickish leaves 4-12 x 2-3 mm, oblong to oblanceolate. Inflorescence unilateral, up to 8 cm long, racemose. Corolla 4-6 mm long, throat densely villous. Nutlets c. 2 mm long, grayish, convex, minutely tubercled.

    Fl. Per.: November-December.

    Type: Persia, Bunn. f., s.n. (G-DC).

Distribution: Coastal S. Iran and adjoining Pakistan.

Apparently rare. Closely related to Echium kotschyi from the Persian Gulf, from which it differs in the tubercled nutlets, many flowered inflorescence, non recurved leaves and zygomorphic corollas. Can be mistaken for a Heliotropium. Perhaps overlooked.
