YASIN J. NASIR

A much branched shrub up to 50 cm tall. Stem and branches scabrid with hispid to setose appressed hairs arising from a swollen base, usually glabrescent with age. Leaves sessile, 10-30 x 2.5-7 mm, entire, lanceolate, hairy an both surfaces; hairs similar to those on stem. Flowers bracteate, usually in axillary or terminal clusters of 2–4 flowers; bracts leafy, but smaller. Calyx 3–4 nun long, With appressed strigose hairs; lobes lanceolale. Corolla 4.5 mm long, white, tube ± 2.5 mm keg; lobes ± oblong, nervose, margin crisp, lower half hairy; throat densely vinous with pale yellow hairs. Stamens subexserted, alternating with the lobes; filaments 1 mm long, dilated towards base; anthers c. 1.3 mm long, narrow oblong. Style 1.3 mm long, stigma sub-capitate. Nutlets c. 2.5 nun long, erect, slightly concave, brown, ovoid, back rugulose, minutely tuberculate.

Fl. & Fr. Per.: mostly throughout the year.

Type: Scinde: Baikur prope Deesa, Stocks s.n. (K; iso. types GH; W).

Distribution: Pakistan, India.

Usually found in sandy areas.
