Perennial herb up to 38 cm tall. Stem solitary or several, branched from the base or not, hairy, with longer spreading hairs up to 5 mm long with tubercled bases, intermixed with shorter subappressed (up to 0.3 mm) ones. Basal leaves 35-90 x 6-10 mm, lanceolate to oblanceolate, margin sometimes revolute, midrib prominent on undersurface. Cauline leaves similar but smaller. Flowers in simple or branched terminal cymes up to 15 cm long, lax in fruit. Bracts lanceolate, up to 25 mm long, gradually narrowing towards apex, enlarging in fruit. Pedicel c. 3 mm long, up to 11 mm in fruit. Calyx 15-20 mm long, densely hairy. Corolla creamy-white, c. 30 mm long, glabrous, cylindrical-campanulate, lobes 2.5 mm broad, deflexed. Nectary scales glabrous, lobulate. Anthers 10-12 mm long, connivent for their length to form a tube, attached c. 3 mm above the anther base. Filaments attached c. 12 mm above base of corolla tube. Nutlets ± 3.5 mm long, shiny.

Found in dry rocky areas up to 2000 m.
