Lithospermum elongatum Decne.Mertensia elongata (Decne.) Benth. & Hook. f.
A rhizomatous perennial with erect leafy shoots, 9-25 cm long, covered with oppressed hairs less than 1 mm long. Basal leaves including petiole 40-80 x 8-15 mm, oblanceolate to lanceolate, acute, covered on both surfaces with short appressed hairs. Cauline leaves similar, uppermost ones sessile. Fruiting inflorescence up to 13 cm long. Pedicels 2-3 mm long, up to 10 mm in fruit. Calyx 4-5 mm long, lobes linear, hairy. Corolla campanulate, tube as long as or longer than the calyx, rarely shorter; lobes orbicular to oblong, c. 3 mm long. Throat scales poorly to well-developed, broader than long, 0.5 x 0.6-0.7 mm; bibbed. Anthers 2.1-2.8 mm long, apiculate. Filaments (0.5-) 1-2 mm long, base broad. Style 8-10 mm long, slender. Nutlets ovoid, 2-2.5 mm long, smooth, shiny.

Distribution: N. Pakistan, Kashmir.
Characterised by the ± bell-shaped corollas.
