Codiaeum spirale Nichols
Leaves variously-shaped, but with the median nerve emergent near the apex to form an arista.
Fl. & Fr. Per.: Feb: Mar. (cult.).
Distribution: The various forms of var. variegatum (the so-called “Crotons” of horticulture) are widely cultivated in all tropical countries. The other variety, var. moluccanum (Decne.) Muell. Arg., is found in E. Malesia, N. Queensland and the Pacific Is.
