Stoloniferous perennial herb. Stems erect, 5-7 cm, stout, grey-green, branching dichotomously from a little above the base, densely white tomentose (hair eglandular). Leaves 8-12 x 3-7 mm, broadly ovate to ovate-elliptic or lanceolate thick, 1-veined, densely white tomentose; base sessile, apex acute. Bracts similar to leaves. Flowers often nodding, in axillary or terminal dichasial eymes. Sepals 4-5 mm, ovate, purplish green (in sic.) white tomentose, acute with scarious margins, non-ciliate. Petals white, as long as or exceeding the calyx by half a length, bilobed to 1/3 rd of its length. Styles 3. Capsule as long as the sepals. Seeds 3 mm in diameter, rounded, muricate.

Fl. Per.: July-August.

Type: (USSR, Pamir Alai) Mura Pass in the Zeravshan area.(Holo : LE).

A central Asian species related to S. tibetica Kurz which it resembles in facies„ but is distinguished by the overall dense eglandular indumentum, its thick ovate leaves and capsule equaling the sepals. S. turkestanica is a new record for our area.
