Perennial up to 50 cm tall, with a branched woody stock. Stems many, simple or branched, glabrous. Leaves 20-50 x 4-10 mm, obovate to linear-lanceolate to linear, the lower leaves attenuate at the base, the upper cauline leaves reduced in size; all leaves with short retrorse hairs, usually the surfaces glabrous lower leaves, minutely ciliate. Sterile leaf fascicles present in the axils of lower leaves. Bracts lanceolate, 5-8 mm, minutely ciliate. Inflorescence a lax panicle. Pedicel glabrous. Calyx 12-18 mm, cylindrical to cylindric-clavate, clavate and constricted below the capsule in fruit, glabrous; teeth obtuse minutely ciliate or the margins, nerves distinct. Petals greenish-yellow; limb 3-7 mm, deeply divide, into linear lobes; claw 10-12 mm, ciliate, exauriculate. Coronal scales oblong Filaments hairy. Carpophore 3-4.5 mm, pubescent. Capsule c. 10 mm long, ovoid exserted from the calyx.

Distribution: Kashmir and northern parts of Pakistan.

Not common in Pakistan. Found up to 3400 m.
