Allied to Ciminalis aquatica (L.) Zuyev and Ciminalis pnostrata (Haenke) Love & Love but differs from both the taxa on the basis of fasciculate, campanulate flowers, and ovate to spathulate cauline leaves. Also comes very close to Ciminalis riparia (Kar. & Kir.) Zuyev but differs from it in h aving fasciculate inflorescence, although Ciminalis riparia (Kar. & Kir.) Zuyev has very dense solitary flowers in a cl uster.
Endemic to Sino-Japanese region.
