Gentiana cephalodes Edgew.
Annual, erect, up to 4.0 cm high, unbranched herb. Stem lineolate, Ulandularly pubescent, not crowded by the leaves at base and middle. Basal leaves 1.0-13 x 0.9-12 cm, obovate-broadly ovate, acute-apiculate, with cartilaginous margin, entire, very slightly toothed. Upper leaves some in middle, mostly in cl usters of inflorescence, 0.8-15 x 0.6-1.0 cm, oblanceolate-obovate, carinate, mucronate-apiculate, with cartilaginous margin, entire, very slightly denticulate, dorsal surface wrinkled. Inflorescence capitate, flowers in dense fascicles. Flowers sessile, intermingled by leaves, 0.4-1.0 an long, infundibuliform. Calyx 5-lobed, more half the length of flower, 0.3-0.7 cm long, tube longer than lobes, 02-0.3 cm long, veins running to base of tube, lobes 0.15-0.25 x 0.05-0.1 cm, lanceolate-ovate, acuminate, marginate, margin cartilaginous, tube longer than lobes, tube 0.3-0.6 cm long, lobes 0.2-0.25 x 0.1-0.15 cm, ovate-broadly ovate, mucronate, streaked, plicae 0.05-0.125 x 0.025-0.1 cm, obovate-broadly ovate, crenulate. Stamens inserted, 5, reaching height of half the corolla tube or slightly longer, filaments reaching the base with slight wings, anthers basifixed, up to 0.1 x up to 0.08 cm, 2-lobed. Ovary elliptic, 0.1-02 x 0.05-0.1 cm, stigma sessile, 2-lobed. Capsule not seen.
