Plants 30–50 cm. Stems 1 (erect), not branched. Basal leaves: petioles narrowly, if at all, winged, lengths 1–3 times blades; blades suborbiculate to ovate-orbiculate, 1–5+ × 1–4 cm, bases subcordate to truncate. Cauline leaves clasping; subcordate (not auriculate).

Flowering early Jul–early Aug. Open areas with damp soils; of conservation concern; 2500–2800 m; Utah.

Variety intermedia is known only from subalpine meadows in the La Sal Mountains of eastern Utah. It has been described as "intermediate" between var. dimorphophylla and Packera crocata.
