Leaves: lobes relatively broad to filiform. Ray florets 4–8. 2n = 17.
Flowering spring–fall. Crevices in limestone and granite cliffs; 1500–3000 m; N.Mex.
Variety staurophylla occurs in the Caballo, Fra Cristobal, Sacramento, and San Andres mountains of south-central New Mexico.
