Leaves: blade lance-elliptic or oblong-lanceolate, 3–5 cm, base cuneate, lobes ˂0 or obscure˃, sinuses shallow, apex acute. Flowers 12–17 mm diam. Pomes broadly ellipsoid to suborbicular.
Flowering May; fruiting Sep–Oct. Hedgerows, thickets, wood margins, dry areas; of conservation concern; 100–300 m; Ont.; Ind., Mich.
Variety angustifolia is very sporadic in its occurrence but has a rather limited range.
