Shelly’s ivesia

Plants 2–10(–15) cm diam. Stems (0.1–)0.2–0.5(–0.9) dm, equal to or exceeding leaves by no more than 2(–7) cm. Inflorescences 5–30(–60)-flowered, 0.5–2(–5) cm diam. 2n = 28.

Flowering summer. Overtly petrophytic in cracks and crevices of pumiceous welded ash-flow tuff boulders and outcrops, in sagebrush communities; of conservation concern; 1300–1600 m; Oreg.

In addition to their more overtly petrophytic habit, plants of var. shellyi are generally smaller and more compact than those of var. rhypara. It is known only from the Rehart and Venator canyons area along the border of Harney and Lake counties in southeastern Oregon.
